100 Years of the Federal Reserve System

March 15, 2013 – The Massachusetts Council on Economic Education and the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston held a day-long professional development program for teachers on the history and function of the Federal Reserve System.  The morning included lectures on: “The History of the Federal Reserve,” by Albert Barnor, Economic Education Specialist, and “Conventional and Unconventional Monetary Policy in the U.S.,” by Ignacio Presno, an economist with the Bank.  Read More



Financial Tools for Afterschool - New England Afterschool Professionals Receive New Financial Education Resources

November 7-8, 2012 – The Massachusetts Council on Economic Education (MCEE) provided two days of training at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston for 40 after-school program professionals from throughout New England focusing on a new personal financial capability curriculum for kindergarten to fifth graders.  Read More

Teachers Receive Conference Scholarships – CEE Grant funds attendance at 51st Annual Conference

October 4-6, 2012 – Ten Massachusetts teachers traveled to Kansas City, Missouri to attend the Council for Economic Education's 51st Annual Financial Literacy and Economic Education Conference.  More than 500 educators, industry thought-leaders and Federal Reserve partners participated in meetings to address important issues and honor excellence in financial and economic education.  Read More  



Federal Reserve Bank of Boston Recognizes Belmont Champions

July 31, 2012 - Kenneth C. Montgomery, First Vice President of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, welcomed the Belmont High School winners of the National Economics Challenge, Adam Smith Division, to the Bank for a celebratory lunch. Mr. Montgomery, who also is the Boston Fed’s Chief Operating Officer, had seen the final quiz bowl round and congratulated the students on their excellent responses and commanding victory over The Harker School from San Jose, California.  Read More 



Belmont High School & Little Falls Community High School Win 2012 National Economics Challenge Championships

May 21, 2012 – Belmont High School of Belmont, MA, and Little Falls Community High School of Little Falls, MN placed first in their divisions of an exciting quiz bowl to become the national champions of the 2012 National Economics Challenge, presented by the Council for Economic Education (CEE).  Read More
